Awesome review, DJI Phantom 3 is really the best in this price range. I would recommend getting it here (look at Amazon ad on right side & below this post) for a much cheaper price.
In 2014 I started using the DJI Phantom 2 Vision Plus. Currently, I’m contemplating purchasing the DJI Phantom 3. Personally, I thought the Phantom 2 Vision Plus was pretty easy to fly and control, but this new Phantom 3 with its increased satellite coverage would seem to make the flying and positioning much easier. Plus, I think the auto takeoff feature is really a great idea. Also, this new Phantom 3 has a better camera and video sensor. Currently,, for the money. I think this is one of the best investments a hands-on type real estate agent could make in their business.
As far as the optical sensor system goes for real estate, I would only think it would be an advantage if one was filming the interior of a large warehouse or commercial building. Also, unless you are a professional photographer or really into photography, I think a real estate agent can save some money by purchasing the advanced version versus the professional version.
I enjoy, high-tech toys like this and realize that using this drone just on a couple properties will more than return it’s cost. But, with that said, this is certainly not for every real estate agent. Besides a love for technology you should enjoy being a hands-on type of person. I would think for the vast majority of real estate agents who want to use video marketing to enhance their listings, I would suggest hiring a professional aerial video photography firm.
As with almost any technology, there are always those who will misuse it, this seems especially true with these aerial drones. So, the FAA has threatened any operators using these for commercial purposes with potential fines, at least until their final regulations are out. There has been a lot of conjecture that if the aerial drone is under 5 pounds, the forthcoming regulations may not restrict their use at all. But, with that said, naturally one must consider the public safety and privacy when operating one of these models..
Here in California in the real estate profession we seem to have a form for almost every situation. So, if you are going to use one of these drones in your real estate business, I would check with your broker on putting together a release form for your sellers to sign before filming their property with a video drone and naturally never use it directly over the public or beyond the 400 foot height limit.
