According to the Web site of the California Earthquake Authority (CEA), every day is earthquake season in California.

The CEA is a state-run insurance pool that offers earthquake insurance to the state’s residents.  The CEA recently dropped its rates an average of 22 percent, in part because the organization has built up a substantial cash reserve in the absence of a major quake in the last decade.

Premiums start at $250 per year for a small, newer home, in one of the state’s least prone regions.  The Web site www.earthquakeauthority.com features an insurance premium calculator that calculates rates based on ZIP code (seismic risk) and construction specifics.[California, earthquake insurance, earthquake, California insurance[/tags] San Diego County real estate agents

  1. In the end, the coming days, weeks, and months, it will become increasingly more important that The Federal Reserve and it’s policy makers in the government keep an eye on both Wall Street and Main Street. America is made of lot of little guys that make our economy run…… If the little guy has a problem in our economy… The Big Guys in our economy feel the pinch.

  2. As the Chairman of The Federal Reserve spaeaks about “Juicing the Economy” are we as Americans looking to what the long term will bring. If we keep making the dollar so easy to borrow as a short term stimulus to our econmy are we not devaluating the currenct abroad making foriegn products cost more to import?
