Newsom – I’m not naive! – Just my opinion

California housing crisis - Newsom - I'm not naive

Wow, I sure didn’t hear the whole Newsom press conference today, but what I heard was just crazy! First of all, I don’t know how many of you have listened to these but in almost everyone and in today’s, I heard it at least two times he has a statement like this: “don’t assume I’m naïve”. Sure, I don’t assume he’s naïve but he sure assumes the majority of California voters are!

Newsom – I’m not naive!

California’s small business

The first part of his press conference he talked about he doesn’t really want to be punitive in enforcing his new measures. He must’ve said this at least three or four times. Then, near the end of the press conference, he goes through a list of all the punitive things he’s going to do to California counties and businesses that don’t comply with his orders!

Well, I just know that he thinks the majority of California residents are complete idiots. Unfortunately, he may be right! Pretty much, at the end of the conference he tells how he has a new group organized to enforces his new rules and that he’s going to use relief money to counties that don’t comply as a form of blackmail against them. Then he states that his new task force is going to look into business licenses – obviously to see if he can suspend or revoke the licenses of businesses that don’t comply.

Oh, and he’s going to be very generous and in many places leave the beach is open. But, there’s a big catch . . . He is closing all the beach parking lots. Now, anybody living in Southern California who goes to the beach, knows how hard it is the park even when these parking lots are open. So, now it’s going to be impossible to park any place except in the local beach community private streets, which I’m sure will be totally jammed before 8 o’clock in the morning!

Small business owners must get together and file a suit because I’m sure this is unconstitutional as far as his putting restrictions on how people can run their own businesses. Unfortunately, the problem with this, is that you would probably lose in a local California court, and then you’d probably lose in the Ninth Circuit Court, but most likely, if they took the case, you’d probably win in the Supreme Court. Really, who has the money and the time that it would take, to go through all of this just to prove that Newsom is a dictator and is issuing unconstitutional rules???

Lastly, I want to mention that here in San Diego, the city Council just extended the moratorium on evictions and foreclosures. Now, this is scheduled to and the end of September. But, in my humble mind, it seems 100% certain that this will be extended again, for another two months, and we would be lucky if it’s over by the end of the year! I feel sorry for the small mom-and-pop rental owners who in many cases haven’t been getting any rent since April, and there is absolutely nothing they can do about it!
If you’re interested in a more detailed explanation of what’s going on with the rental moratorium and how even when it ends, a landlord still has to wait an additional 90 days before they can even file for the eviction in any California court! Is anybody out there reading this, still going to vote for one Democrat in the upcoming November elections?
