San Diego-based MDA DataQuick reported yesterday, that an estimated 27,858 new and resale houses and condos were sold statewide last month. That’s compared to 41,837 in December and 29,458 statewide in January 2009. California home sales dipped 33.4 percent in January from December, and 5.4 percent compared to January 2009.
The California median price paid for a home last month was $247,000, according to DataQuick. That’s down 6.4 percent from $264,000 in December but up 10.3 percent from January 2009, when the median was $224,000.
The overall San Diego median price dropped from $330,000 in December to $305,000 in January. The median was still 8.9 percent higher than one year ago.
San Diego sales were down 36.4 percent from December to 2,322 transactions, they also were down year-over-year by 5.6 percent.
The six-county Southern California regional median price was down 6.1 percent from December and up 8.6 percent from January 2009. Sales were down 31.2 percent.
